Delegates at the BMA’s annual representative meeting (ARM) in Bournemouth on 29 June voted in favour of a motion which said that “all consultants, [BMA] members on the specialist register, and junior doctors of year three specialty training and above should be consultant’s last consolidated LEA point (but no earlier than April 2021). Level 9 LCEA awarded before 1 April 2018 will continue to be subject to existing renewal arrangements, including their anticipated five-yearly review, until April 2021. From April 2021 onwards, level 9 LCEA will be subject to the same scoring mechanism as all other LCEA, National Consultant Contract (as amended), or a successor contract, should appoint an EBAC. This will have a minimum of 12 members, including consultants, employer representatives (ie chief executive, HR director, medical director) and lay members.
