Think of most any Rock n Roll thundering bassline and it is likely the PBass is laying down the groove. The Jazz Bass [known as a “J Bass”] has 2 single coil pickups which results in a very clean tone that has a bit more midrange than the Precision. The P bass simply sounded superior to me. it was also more comfortable to play, both because of the neck and because the body is smaller than the offset waist body of the jazz.

Comparison of Fender Jazz Bass on the neck pickup vs Precision split coil.My opinion P-Basses have a very characteristic thump with much less high end than a J Bass because the split coil humbucking pickups cancels out a lot of overtones, it’s the classic sound of an electric bass. I find that the best of both worlds are the 50s style P-Basses with a single coil, it has more high end than a standard P-Bass but less than a J Bass because of the smaller magnetic field. If you want versatility, then maybe consider a series/parallel mod for a P Bass. Series is typical for P Basses. Parallel will have much less volume, and will be detailed and brighter like a Jazz. Jazz pickups which compete with P volumes in a passive bass won't sound like traditional/vintage J basses IME.

P-bas låter mer som det du beskriver tror jag, jazzbas har ett pruttigt anslag och svampigare ton, pbas låter Intressant med P vs. Det är en j-bass-kopia tror jag, men kroppen är inte riktigt rätt heller, inte lika svängd bakdel.
